Webinar: Cyber security and COVID-19

The COVID-19 outbreak has introduced almost overnight changes to various landscapes across the globe as it swept through continents.  

In his latest webinar, Cyber Security and COVID-19, F-Secure’s Chief Research Officer, Mikko Hyppönen, discussed the state of cyber security in delicate times, the evolution of the threat landscape since the outbreak, and counter responses to keep individuals and organizations safe.  

Organizations are now facing new challenges in the business cyber security landscape as offices globally issued mandates for employees to work from home. 

Equipment that are usually kept within the safety of an organization’s internal security setup are now being taken home. Thus, increasing the organization’s vulnerability to attacks by opportunistic cyber criminals. However, a few simple good practices by employees working from home can go a long way.  

Online criminals have also begun to abuse the current situation using COVID-19 themed email attacks, phishing, and spam. These attacks feed on our current fear of the situation which leads to the tendency of not thinking twice before clicking email links or attachments.  

Our reliance on technology in our day-to-day life is exposing us to new kinds of risks. Therefore, good IT leadership is crucial during these times in building resilience against the threat landscape even when the future feels uncertain.
