Watch the Cyber Security Base Kick-Off
Cyber Security Base with F-Secure, an online course series developed by F-Secure and the University of Helsinki, is back for another year. The course series began on October 31st (you can sign up to the mailing list to receive updates), and kicked-off with a special event at the University of Helsinki, which you can watch it here.
The event featured keynote presentations from Professor Mauro Conti, an Associate Professor at the University of Padua in Italy and head of the SPRITZ research group, which investigates security and privacy issues in relation to technology, as well as F-Secure’s Chief Research Officer Mikko Hypponen.
F-Secure Security Advisor Sean Sullivan hosted a panel discussion called “Bridging Theory and Practice in Cyber Security” at the event. Both keynote speakers participated in the panel, and they were joined by Karmina Aquino, Threat Intelligence Lead at F-Secure Labs, F-Secure Principal Security Consultant Antti Vähä-Sipilä, and Professor Valtteri Niemi from the University of Helsinki’s Department of Computer Science.
“There’s lots of work being done to make the technology we have today more secure, but it’s largely up to the IT industry to make tomorrow’s technologies secure. That involves taking our ideas about what security is and building them into IT products and services, which is difficult to do given the economic realities many IT companies live with,” Sean said. “Our panel is the perfect opportunity to get this conversation out of the relatively closed cyber security and IT communities and into the public.”
Anyone interested in attending the event can register here.
